TOI vs Deepika Padukone

In a country with a shortage of toilets it is no wonder that Times of India is the highest selling newspaper supposedly. They cover the news, news which fills pages and pages but is hardly of use to anyone. I would have preferred if TOI was called a tabloid. Anyhow that is not what this is all about.

Times of India wrote an article about Deepika Padukone’s Cleavage to which Deepika Padukone responded and to which TOI has responded again.

Dei, stop it both of you. Wasting precious time of so many people. Deepika if TOI thinks your cleavage is news hit them hard where it really matters. Stop attending events which has TOI as sponsors cut TOI out of your life. Also Read The Hindu. They are a much more South Indian paper and they cover sensible news.

And Times of India, shame on you. Why don’t you come up with a gallery of Man Boobs? Feature men with moobs.  Do something worthwhile for your readers and also please read The Hindu.

I dedicate this post to Prabhu Jayachandran he is in love with both Times of India and Deepika Padukone and exactly in that order.

Stop fighting there are enough wars being fought and enough journalists being killed.

Of Dreams and Holy Cows

How many of You Dream? No, I am not talking of the Day Dreams that you have in office and then tweet about it. ( Ah! there is a sweet looking curly haired girl at work. Should I ask her out?)

I am talking of dreams that you get when you are in deep sleep. No, not Wet Dreams. Real Dreams where you dream of being chased by Monsters, where you dream of flying to outer space in your caped suit and UV protected sun glasses and maybe a dream where you have no clue what is happening. How many of you have had dreams where you have romanced a sweet looking girl with curly hair? Strangely I never have. But I have had dreams where I have been yelled at, where I am in some alien land with monsters surrounding me and I am going to be attacked.

Some of you may say that a dream in which you are about to be attacked is not a dream but a nightmare. For it to be a nightmare you should be afraid, very afraid and wake up sweating and yelling and maybe wetting yourself. I don’t get scared of silly things when I dream.I probably did have nightmares as a kid, sadly I don’t remember what I dreamt of as a child. But I have been known to speak in some alien language at least that’s what my parents and brother had to say. So I believe I am from another planet and am here for the view.

But the views in this place where I am at is nothing to talk to my alien brothers about. So my talking in alien language in the middle of the night has drastically gone down (According to Nandini) and I seem to be snoring these days. Yes monotonous snoring. Which means I have nothing to talk about to my alien brethren. My views of the Hindus Majority in this country is pathetic. Look at it this way, the cow is the holy animal of this land and it is an animal which provides. Cow slaughter is looked down upon in this country but it is allowed to roam the city roads, streets, National Highways pretty much everywhere. No one bothers about the cow until some wicked people (read moslems, christians, catholics and non-believers) kill it for food. Some of these Hindus even consider them to be the Devil. Why, because they don’t conform to their way of life. Same story with other groups in this land. If you are a pig eater you are looked down upon by the moslems. We keep looking down so much in this country that we have forgotten what the sky looks like. Ok that last sentence strike it out.

The point of this post is ” I had a dream, a vivid one” last night. I dreamt that Mihir (@felinetendency), Sathyanarain (@msnarain) and me were at a restaurant in Bangalore (Not Koshy’s) ordering Chilly Beef and eating like crazy people. I can still see Mihir licking his fingers and Narain licking his plate off. The only thing that did not fit into the whole picture is that I am a vegetarian. Still wondering what the dream means.

Why do we dream when our thoughts mean nothing, And when will we learn to control. Serenity, Godsmack

Here are two things that I’ve realized about dreaming

Dreams have no beginning and no end. ( Like I do not remember how I got to that restaurant in Bangalore nor do I remember where we went after we finished eating the beef. But I do remember that the table cloth was cream in color and was made of lace.)

Dreams are mostly in colour though some people claim to dream in Black and White (guess they are stuck in the 60’s)

Now time to figure out how to make my way to Star Rock Cafe where Duality is playing on June 29th 2012. Here is Mihir’s Tweetcall for the show. Hope to meet up with Sathyanarain too and maybe those guys will eat beef. 🙂

Self promotion tweet: 25 tickets for Duality/Whitelady on 29th June at Star Rock. Rs. 300 (includes a drink) Pick them up asap

Spinach, Corn and Mushroom with Bread of Choice

At times I get slightly cranky with hunger and like to eat something immediately. Maggi used to be my food of choice for emergencies. But I am trying to move away from Ready to eat food. Because of the health implications that I foresee. This is one of my favourite recipes in recent times and it cooks in the same amount of time as Maggi. (No, Maggi cannot be cooked in 2 minutes)

People always remember nothing like freshly cooked food. Though I am not happy where agriculture is heading.

Spinach- 1 Bunch
Mushroom – 200 gms – finely chopped
Corn – 100 gms
Green Chillies – 2 finely chopped
Garlic – 6 pods finely chopped
Onion – 1/2 finely chopped
White Pepper Powder
Olive Oil – 1 tbsp

  • Boil the Spinach for a minute and drain the water. Then make a fine paste out of it using a blender.
  • Heat the Olive Oil and sautee the Garlic and Green Chillies. Then add the Onion and Sautee it till it becomes slightly transparent.
  • Add the Mushroom and Corn and Sautee it.
  • Add the white pepper powder and Salt to taste.
  • Finally add the Spinach paste and cover with lid for 1 minute.
  • Serve with bread that you fancy. Roti, Whole grain Bread, White Bread… You get the idea right.

Note : There are variations to this. You can substitute the Mushroom with Paneer.

And this is food that Nandy and sometimes Amma  make for me.  Recipe was first tried out by Amma, food delivery in las vegas
who is one hell of a cook and has a huge book with recipes. This food is good also for vitiligo but you can read that in our Vitiligo Miracle Review. I have been convincing her to digitise it. She says “You lose weight and I will digitise my recipes.” Maybe I should. 🙂 But then Nandy and Amma keep making great food. Typical Catch 22 situation. 🙂

Titan Eye plus and what I learnt

Well, I quit using spectacles when I was in my 10th class. Thats when I shifted to contact lenses. But for all you spectacle users those numbers on the sides of frames denote something after all.

So the numbers you see in the picture are 53/16/140 so what do them numbers mean?

53 is the width of the each eye piece.

16 is the width of the nose bridge

140 is the length of the sides.

All these measurements are in millimetres.

Choosing the right frame is as crucial as getting the right lenses for the frame.

Always check eye centre, lens centre and frame centre with an optometrist or an eye doctor before you go about choosing a frame. Fancy frames sure look nice but make sure what you are buying is good for you and for your eyes.

Titan Eye plus does some brilliant work helping you select your frame. I had an awesome  experience at their store in Shanthi Colony, Anna Nagar. The store manager Mr. Parameshwaran was very patient and he had good knowledge of the frames he was handling. Such people make shopping so comfortable  and they actually let the customer make an informed decision. Thanks Parameshwaran it was a pleasure shopping at your store.

And yeah people I am going for change in looks. Soda bottle lenses are back in style. 🙂

Nokia and MS vs Android, Apple

Nokia and Microsoft intend to jointly create market-leading mobile products and services designed to offer consumers, operators and developers unrivalled choice and opportunity.  As each company would focus on its core competencies, the partnership would create the opportunity for rapid time to market execution.  Additionally, Nokia and Microsoft plan to work together to integrate key assets and create completely new service offerings, while extending established products and services to new markets.

Under the proposed partnership:

– Nokia would adopt Windows Phone as its principal smartphone strategy, innovating on top of the platform in areas such as imaging, where Nokia is a market leader.

– Nokia would help drive the future of Windows Phone.  Nokia would contribute its expertise on hardware design, language support, and help bring Windows Phone to a larger range of price points, market segments and geographies.

– Nokia and Microsoft would closely collaborate on joint marketing initiatives and a shared development roadmap to align on the future evolution of mobile products.

– Bing would power Nokia’s search services across Nokia devices and services, giving customers access to Bing’s next generation search capabilities.  Microsoft adCenter would provide search advertising services on Nokia’s line of devices and services.

– Nokia Maps would be a core part of Microsoft’s mapping services.   For example, Maps would be integrated with Microsoft’s Bing search engine and adCenter advertising platform to form a unique local search and advertising experience

– Nokia’s extensive operator billing agreements would make it easier for consumers to purchase Nokia Windows Phone services in countries where credit-card use is low.

– Microsoft development tools would be used to create applications to run on Nokia Windows Phones, allowing developers to easily leverage the ecosystem’s global reach.

– Nokia’s content and application store would be integrated with Microsoft Marketplace for a more compelling consumer experience.

“Today, developers, operators and consumers want  compelling mobile products, which include not only the device, but the software, services, applications and customer support that make a great  experience,” Stephen Elop, Nokia President and CEO, said at a joint news conference in London. “Nokia and Microsoft will combine our strengths to deliver an ecosystem with unrivalled global reach and scale. It’s now a three-horse race.”

“I am excited about this partnership with Nokia,” said Steven A. Ballmer, Microsoft CEO. “Ecosystems thrive when fueled by speed, innovation and scale. The partnership announced today provides incredible scale, vast expertise in hardware and software innovation and a proven ability to execute.”

Raja’s Affair (With the 2G Spectrum)

Who is Missing in This Picture? Right answer gets Lindt’s Chocolate

In a country of a billion plus people of which 40% are earning less than a Rs. 50 a day. It is a sad to hear some smart as an ass politician duping the ex-chequer of more than a lakh crore rupees(Trust me I am having a hard time counting the zeroes) and getting caught. It is insulting to the people who bought these parties to power.

Raja is a no one. He is a mere puppet and he has been used so much that the ropes that were attached to his limbs have been cut-off and he has fallen into the trap. But rest assured some people are happy he has been arrested and some have said all this is just humbug and a simple eye-wash.

Now how does a Magician perform a trick? Mis-direction!

Karunanidhi is one of the greatest political magicians of all time (evil none the less) Raja is the misdirection. Now wait for him to pull the rabbit out of his yellow shawl and then we can all clap our hands and applaud him. Because at this age he can still control Azhagiri who is a major political storm in Madurai, Stalin who has been touted to be his political heir, Kanimozhi who I believe is the cause of all this problem and the entire DMK party.

At the cost of being called sexist (though I am far from it) I am going to say this, in Tamil there is a saying… “Penn Budhi Pinn Budhi” meaning a woman’s mind is a backward mind. Well there are several rumours of the alleged affair between Raja and Kanimozhi (frankly, I don’t care). This could possibly be a factor in this whole looting affair.

But Raja’s merciless disregard for the common man, Karunanidhi’s support for Raja, and the involvement of the corporates disgusts me.

We don’t live in a democracy. We live in a country where corruption is the law. I have nothing against these politicians. But the way things are it is just pathetic and the people look like a bunch of jokers in this world.

By the way till the very end we will never know if Raja is actually guilty.

And Arindam Chaudhuri is another story…
